TRIAL
I've mentioned on this blog before that I've been very fortunate not to have many trials in my life. It makes for boring blogs, I suppose. I realize how blessed I am. I know many people who have endured all kinds of trials in their lives.
I'm facing the biggest trial of my 59-year-old life so far. "In sickness and in health"...those were the vows my husband and I spoke some 37 years ago. So far it's been health but over the past year, we've begun facing the not-so-healthy. I never thought I would be in those shoes, yet here I am.
Fr. Mike Schmitz (The Bible in a Year Podcast--BTW, it's not just for Catholics!) mentioned in the commentary of the last part of the book of Job that "suffering can be redemptive". He goes on to say that suffering is part of a bigger story happening; we don't know what it is, but there is a purpose. I've said that from day 1 of the diagnosis. Well, maybe not day 1 but definitely day 2 or 3. God has a plan; we don't know what it is but complete faith in God is called for.
I'm trying to not make it all about me. The trial is real, very real. I continue to pray (and ask others to pray) that I receive the grace to accept God's Will and His Plan.
